Fostering Kittens & Cats

What Our Fosters Say...

I have been involved with rescue and fostering all my life, but I can honestly say that I've never had as much support from an organization as I've had since joining Texas Rustlers Day Cats. I've been fostering with them for two years now and it's so rewarding. Seeing tiny babies who were struggling to survive grow and thrive. Watching older kittens and cats go from scared to confident and loving with your patience and care. The ultimate reward is seeing their new family loving them and excited to take them home on adoption day. Yes, you get attached, but out of my now 47 fosters, I've only foster failed 2. It's such a good feeling knowing that you are helping a sweet animal that may not have had a chance without you. Fostering has been a great learning and life experience for my kids as well and they regularly help out with kitten care.

What Our Fosters Say...

Wanted to share our experience with fostering with Texas Rustlers Fat Cat Rescue. We have been fostering for a few months now and it has been an absolute pleasure. The rescue provides everything you need and is very quick to jump in and help when a challenge comes up. As a mom, fostering has strengthened us as a family and is teaching my kids to love and care for animals. They give their hearts to the kitties knowing that one day they will have a new furever home. It’s not easy on them but they understand. They understand that love is permanent and kindness is sometimes hard. I see how strong, kind and vulnerable it is making them. For people who say they can’t foster because they will fall in love and it’s too hard. I say try to be more like be like my kids. If you have time and love to give do it. It is worth it. You will change a life.

What Our Fosters Say...

After being a lifetime animal lover I followed through with my 2025 resolution of fostering. The past four months have been the most meaningful and fun four months of my life. It’s been a great experience helping these cute cats (10!) find their forever homes. From starting unsure and tiny to watching their personalities blossom and gain trust in humans. Life hack: if your spouse limits you to two cats, start fostering. If you’re scared of foster failing just remember leaving space in your home allows you to save the next group.

What Our Fosters Say...

Fostering for the Texas Rustlers Fat Cats shelter has been an incredibly rewarding experience for my husband and me. Over the past year, we've had the pleasure of fostering 12 kittens until they found their forever homes. The shelter has been amazing, providing us with everything we need, from vet appointments to quick responses to any questions we have. The fostering community is always supportive, whether it's watching the kitties while we're away, bringing over supplies, or helping care for sick kittens. We couldn't be more grateful for the wonderful team and the opportunity to help these precious animals.

What Our Fosters Say...

I tried fostering many years ago when I lived in FL and that was for a dog rescue. It was such a horrible experience that I swore I’d never do it again. I stepped outside of my fear to try again, only this time with cats for Texas Rustlers Fat Cats. I met Julia and it’s been such an awesome experience that I can’t imagine doing it for anyone else.
I’ve done several cats and kittens. It’s very rewarding and this organization is fantastic with information and my needs as a foster. It’s been almost a year. I’ve learned so much! I’ve gotten many who have been absolute messes and to see them become healthy, happy and in their forever homes has been AWESOME! I have many pics! Hardest part is wanting to keep them all lol … that’s what I struggle with the most. To date, I’ve had 13 babies and 2 moms.

Getting to foster for Texas Rustlers Fat Cats was my perfect opportunity to snuggle on kittens! I got handsome boys at 5 weeks old, I got to help them get healthy and strong to move onto find their purrfect families. Fostering is so rewarding and fills your soul with sweet babies that will forever hold a place in your heart!
